Salvation Testimony

I grew up in church and have been exposed to the Gospel my entire life for the most part.  I came to the end of myself at the age of fourteen and began my journey of following Jesus.  That night I understood the Gospel for the first time and the response Jesus was calling for, though I had already been baptized when I was nine years old.  Over the years I have come to understand that salvation is not so much a decision in the past as it is a faith walk in the present. (Scripture ask us to examine the present to see if we are in the faith and not to look back to some decision we made).  We have made salvation about a birth certificate, (when were you saved?) when it should be about a pulse (how are you demonstrating that you are being saved through sanctification).  I've learned that salvation is a journey of repeatedly denying yourself, taking up your cross daily, and following Jesus (Luke 9:23).  It's a true personal relationship with Jesus Christ that bares fruit.

Call to the Ministry

Everyone who is a true believer is called to be active in ministry.  As a teenager, God clearly pointed me toward serving Him within Student Ministry.  During my freshman year at Mississippi College, God opened the door for me to do just that on staff as a bi-vocational student pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence, MS.  Only a few years ago did God actually allow me the the opportunity of serving Him at Cleary full time.  God has called me to raise up a new generation of youth ministry that is unprecedented in our day.  Youth ministry that has God sized expectations, deep spiritual accountability, and a world changing passion all for the Glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.

Passion in Ministry

I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is completely without error. My philosophy is to work under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and my anointed Pastor Kevin Ivy to reshape and reform the church at Cleary into an exact replica of the church in the book of Acts.  Cleary is a church with one vision, one heartbeat, and one focus.  All ministries, including student ministry flows naturally into the "ONE" direction.  Everything is connected to bring everyone to live lives that bring the most Glory to God.  We strive to share the true Gospel, to equip our people to do the work of ministry, and to go all the way to the ends of the earth with the shinning light of Jesus that lives inside of us.  Students are simply part of that "ONE" goal at Cleary!  We expect God sized things from all our teenagers!

I've learned in over a decade of leading student ministry that traditional youth ministry methods are far from what we find in the Bible. Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a movement of dreamers and visionaries who have given their very lives over to Christ for His Glory. Christianity totally consumes the life of a person and yes, that includes teenagers.  In the American church of today, it's rare to find these kinds of people.  At Cleary, we are praying for God to fill our church with them.  My goal is nothing less than leading a student ministry filled with passionate followers of the WAY. Students who are so spiritually contagious, it begins the revolution that actually impacts the world.  It's not just a student ministry goal, it's our goal at Cleary!
