Salvation Testimony

I came to Christ when I was eight years old. I had been having serious questions about God and salvation when I went to VBS that summer. I stayed afterwards one afternoon to talk to my VBS teacher about salvation. I went with my parents a few days later to talk to the pastor. That day I came under the gift of grace, and committed my life to Christ. Several days later I made my decision public. A few weeks later, I was baptized.

Call to the Ministry

During the summer of 2003 I was to serve at Central Hills Baptist Retreat, but I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my foot. That summer I began to work with the children's minister, Jennifer, in my home church helping her with a children's bible study. I noticed that the older children were less focused on the lesson as it was a little basic for them. I asked our children's minister if I could do a separate study for them and she agreed. I taught that study for the rest of the summer and when it was time for them to go to camp Jennifer asked me to be a chaperone. I gladly said yes. When we arrived at camp Jennifer informed me that I would be teaching the 6th grade bible study. I stayed up late every night that week preparing for my lesson the next day. It was such a blessing because I was so tired and challenged by what I was having to do that I couldn't focus on anything, but God. The last night we were there during the worship time the sixth graders began to share with other students in the room and it broke my heart. As I began to weep I heard God calling to me and saying this is what I made you for. At that moment I felt called into children.s ministry.

Passion in Ministry

I originally felt called specifically into children's ministry. As continued seeking after the Lord He began to show me that that was not all I was called to do. In February of 2005 I was offered a position as a youth minister in Etta, MS. I almost told them no without even thinking about it and that I was not called to youth ministry. Instead I told them I would pray about it. I began to pray and God revealed to me that I might be called to do other things to be in a place where I could minister to children. I took the job and I was able to minister to children of that church because of it. My heart is children's ministry, but I will go where I am called. I realize later that a call into the ministry is to do whatever and go wherever God calls you. That is the true passion of my ministry following God's call no matter what.
